This album was recommended to me by a friend who literally said to me today, “Dude, you have to do a review on this album. They’re the shit.” Well my friend was a fellow metal head and I took his word for it and did some research on this band, Dark Tranquility, of whom I’ve never heard of, and apparently they’ve been around since 1995 and keeping the reception of their work above good (which to me is impressive if any band at all can do that for almost 20 years). Also, “Construct” (their latest album) came out 11 months ago today (May 17, 2013 if you want actual numbers since you want the answer quick), but that still fit my 2-year old release at most criteria so I was willing to listen to it and eventually write a review on it. And here it is, otherwise I don’t know what this is if not the review.

This album had guitars that were so heavy and hardcore that when I put my headset down and turned the volume to 100%, my headset began vibrating. It was amazing. The singer’s voice was so raspy (in a good way) that it just went great with the guitars and drums that it was just great. I cannot put it any other way.
