“Eye of the Storm” by The Haunted, who I found out just recently has been around for 16 years (since 1998), blew me away when I heard this. I hadn’t anticipated in the slightest how heavy and how good this was going to be from a band that I had never heard of before. To be honest, since I ran out of albums to review yesterday I literally went onto Wikipedia and looked up “2014 in heavy metal music”, saw that Haunted had a new EP and I thought, “That sounds good. Let’s do that.” And man! A good decision that was!

The combination of Marco Aro’s intense vocals, Ola Englund’s guitars and Jonas Björler’s bass, and Adrian Erlandsson’s drums is fantastic. They make these fast-paced, head-banger’s approved songs so enjoyable that it’s ridiculous. The heaviness is so intense that if it were any more heavy that I could probably touch it in the air surrounding my speakers. What’s also great about Haunted is that they have 6 studio albums out, 2 live albums, 1 compilation album, and 2 EPs including this one so now I can go and listen to more of the band once I’m done typing this. So you can bet your ass that if you’re reading this the night this comes out, then I’m listening to more of Haunted.
