I imagine that whenever someone hears the term “thrash metal”, that they’re brains instinctively go to well-known and loved bands such as Metallica and Slayer who have engraved their names in thrash metal history forever. But it is now my firm belief that there is a new comer on the horizon seeking to put itself shoulder-to-shoulder with the legends. Before I get to the review itself, let me just say what I thought of it at a first hear within 30 seconds. If you, and I imagine you do, remember the first time you heard a Metallica song and loved it, you had a feeling deep in your cerebellum that says something to your brain. And your brain translates that feeling into “Holy shit. . . that’s a really good fucking song.” That is exactly how I felt once I took a listen to this album.

This fantastic album, titled “Divide and Conquer”, by thrash metal band, Suicidal Angels, is one of those albums that comes around and you enjoy every single minute of it. The comparison between Suicidal and old Metallica is so close that the only real difference that I can list right off the top of my head is that Suicidal doesn’t have that 80s metal sound to it buried in their tracks and lyrics. The guitars of this Greek band have the traditional sound of good thrash metal, that it will turn metal loving heads everywhere. The drums also have the traditional thrash meta sound, with the beats being very harsh and sporadic, but while also sounding phenomenal in general. Be sure to go out and buy or download this great addition to Suicidal Angels’ collection of 5 studio albums including this, 2 EPs, and 3 demos.
