For all those who follow me on Twitter and actually catch what I post (all 6 of you) know that I was asked earlier today to do a review for Anette Olzan’s (former singer of Nightwish, who I’ve never particularly took a liking to) new album “Shine”. After listening to it, I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t do a review for it on this site. It did not, in my opinion, fall under the genres of rock or even remotely metal in the slightest. I’m not saying it’s bad (before someone gets on my ass thinking that), I’m just saying that it didn’t fit the criteria I set up for these reviews.
However, after doing minimal (and by minimal I mean it took less than 4 minutes) research I resolved to do the latest album by Iced Earth, “Plagues of Babylon”. While I’ve only heard only a small portion of their work, I still like what they’ve done as a band overall. And this album follows that trail right on spot and beyond. Their songs are just as long as they’ve always been and they all still sound amazing. Everything flows well together from the lyrics to the guitars notes to even the fucking album cover which is as great as ever. “Plagues” is just amazing and I highly recommend it especially to those who also like Iced Earth and have yet to hear this album. Completely worth it.
