Insomnium – Shadows of the Dying Sun

20140429-092549.jpg This album was released just today, and when I saw it’s release date and thought that this was going to be a good melodic death metal album. And it is. While the lyrics are drowned out by the overpowering boom of the guitars, the deep voice of the singer still has an impact on where the track goes and ends up no matter what. The tune of these heavy tracks aren’t ones that inspire death, fear, destruction and doom, but instead some sort of hope in a weird way (at least that’s my interpretation). Even though some may not like that sort of style, they cannot deny that Insomnium has created tracks that not only song good but will stay good. If a song, or an album, can keep an album sounding good then that album will go down in history and be remembered (example : Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”). If the band can do this again, even just once, I think that they could become quite popular and do great things. That’s my opinion anyway.
