This 5-track EP by the relatively new band “At Mourning’s End” has a tone to it that matches the band name and EP title suggests : hardcore, heavy, and sometimes somber in some places. I liked that about this band. Their style may seem a bit “repetitive” if I can use that term. It feels like there’s a lot of metal bands out there that have taken their heavy and powerful notes and combined them with somber lyrics and/or concepts. With this increase in music like that, there will be less and less bands that will actually be able to pull that off and more. And I think At Mourning’s End can and will be one of those bands to pull it off.
“The Wold in Sheep’s Clothing” is one of those albums that you find yourself slowly clinging to as it continues on. It’s harshness followed by a chorus with the singer’s voice being much calmer than before is kind of reminiscent to the vocal style of Killswitch Engage : “calm” chorus but everything else super heavy and harsh. And every once in a while, a female vocalist will come in and switch things up with the vocals and create a tone and feel different than before. And I gotta say, she does it really well along side with the rest of this good band.
