(Revision) In Days Forgotten – Paint the Stage EP

20140510-195247.jpg This was one of the first albums I reviewed that the band themselves asked me to review. I asked them first, of course. At least I believe so. But that’s besides the point. I haven’t honestly listened to this EP since I first heard it so it was pretty refreshing and nostalgic to hear it again. And listening to it again was a good decision because it gave me a chance to go back, rethink my opinions, and refine them.

In Days Forgotten is a band that has potential. I know I say that a lot, but I never say it if I don’t mean it. This band was reported as the #1 metal band from the Cincinnati area on ReverbNation a few weeks ago, and that’s totally understandable. They have style that can easy rise up the rankings on the charts of bands these days. Their sound has a flow to it that sounds good, goes well, and can be enjoyed by many people. Of course, many bands can do that already, but I think we can always appreciate another addition right? I know I can and I will. They have all it takes to make a good record selling band that may not be as big as for example Korn or maybe Slipknot, but they will be able to perform on the same stage with them, on the same tour, and perform in front of the same group of people. If any band can pull that off, they have talent. And talent can obviously go a long way. The ONLY thing that I don’t really find amazing about In Days Forgotten is the voice of whoever sings the “softer” sounding vocals. He could use just a bit of adjusting and tuning so that it could fit more better with the other guy’s voice. I’m not saying he’s bad or anything (and in no way is he), but I’m just saying it could use some refinement. And every band has something they could use perfecting on. There’s no denying that. So don’t let my one opinion shift how you look at this band because if you do. . . well then that’s fuckin stupid. I don’t know when “Paint the Stage” was released, and I don’t know when they’ll put out more music, but I’m looking forward to more music by them, and I’m sure many others are as well.
