(Revision) The Outlaws of Zen – Death in the Afternoon

20140510-224521.jpg “Death In the Afternoon” was good when I first listened to it, and it still is to no end. The Outlaws of Zen took an approach on this 6-track album that greatly has those gritty elements of rock and smashed it together with metal that can attract all types of people who enjoy any sort of music that is close to that (terrible description, I know). They have a tone so razor sharp that I can compare it to a steak knife, and the knife would seem blunt compared to some of the tracks of “Death In the Afternoon”. However, the vocals are smooth and even relaxing in some areas that when sung along with gritty guitars and thundering drums, sounds amazing. The overall partnership between vocals and guitar notes and drum beats is so synchronized that even if you don’t quite like the sound of the album (which I’d be surprised if you didn’t) you’d have to agree that they all go very well together. And I don’t care what you say or what anyone says, this band is good and they deserve to grow and become bigger, more popular, and attract more people like me who can enjoy their music and who can be good fans and stick with The Outlaws of Zen through good and bad times.
