I was just sitting there, doing nothing, when out of the blue I get a request over Twitter from a band I’ve never heard of to review an album I didn’t anticipate, but the guy (or girl, who knows) was nice and. . . fuck it, you know? I’ve had a good day. Why shouldn’t I check out this album now? Could be a good album that I can make a good review about. And lo and behold! I liked it, a lot, and it was only a 12 minute EP so I decided to make this because I knew it’d be short. But this album is one that blew my mind. Not only because it was louder than hell and I jumped the slightest bit when it got super heavy, but because of how brutally raw the sound and style is. Some people would disagree with me saying, “It’s just a bunch of deep and high pitched screaming that doesn’t make sense.” Well, that’s kind of what deathcore is. . . deep and sometimes high pitched screaming with heavy ass guitars and an all around vicious album that hits that absolutely defines deathcore in my opinion. Consumption is one of those bands that has risen up from the underground of the metal community and has slowly climbed the ranks, but still being under the radar the entire time. If I had to guess, this band will slowly become larger and more popular as more and more people come to hear and like their work. This won’t happen instantly, of course, but I assume it’ll happen at one point or another. “Incredulous Dillusions” is a great album for any screamo, deathcore, and maybe emo fans out there alike and I encourage everyone to go take a listen to this album. It’ll only be 12 minutes. Don’t be lazy. Go do it now. Do it.
