Tombs – Savage Gold

20140610-124756-46076273.jpg “Savage Gold” is a well done brutal LP by Tombs, a band I’ve never heard of before but have now found out that they are one of the most “beloved underground metal bands in all of metaldom” according to some people I asked who listen to more of the uncommon and unknown bands than I do. I don’t usually listen to underground metal. It’s okay to me, not the best for my taste. I know for a fact there are many others out there that’d get on my ass for saying that, but I really don’t care. This album was nice though. It didn’t astound me or make me shit my pants to any degree, but I could listen to it every once in a while and go, “Yeah, why not?” Throughout the whole album, Tombs kept a harsh, unforgiving tempo that sounded really good with the vocals that had a raw tone to them along with the guitars and drums that had good rhythm and pace that allowed the two to blend well together into a sort of single unit that you can’t really tell the difference between the two. One doesn’t happen without the other. All aspects of this album will impress some people out there and make them go “Awe! This is incredible!” But sadly, I’m not one of those people. I’m not shitting on the band or they’re album. I thought it was good, but I couldn’t quite get pulled in with it’s style and tone.
