Wolves Like Us – Black Soul Choir

20140615-185531-68131063.jpg It’s not very often that you find well done albums that mix the two similar and yet different genres of rock and metal together seamlessly, and even less often that you see that as the product of a band’s second album. Well that’s what Wolves Like Us has done here with “Black Soul Choir”. They have taken metal and rock and fused them into one smooth flowing album that sounds remarkably good for only their second album. While at a few places the album can drain your interest, it soon comes back and gains your full attention once again with either the next track or something that sounds amazing within the same one. I didn’t quite like the vocals at first, seemed a little bland to me, but as the album progressed they got better. The guitars were also very well done. They sound really good, they have a good rhythm and tone throughout the entire album, and the guitarists do a very good job of keeping a good pace and staying alongside the drums and vocals in terms of staying on the same beat at the same time. And I love the drums. They have a fantastic beat in the whole time, and when they are done by themselves without any guitars or vocals going they sound great. Of course, they sound great with the vocals and guitars too. “Black Soul Choir” is an all around good album that has plenty of good tracks to it and definitely deserves a listen to.
