Some of you may know that I am a huge supporter of the small band, We Rise the Tides. Ever since the release of their latest EP “Death Walk”, which I love, I have been keeping up with them on Twitter and promoting the EP in real life when I can. Recently, I saw a post that said they were about to go on tour with Victory Heights. Hell, if this band is going with We Rise the Tides then they must be quite similar right? So, I decided to “investigate” and take a listen to Victory Heights’ new album “In Motion”. And damn, I was happy with what I heard.
I now know why Victory Heights is on tour with We Rise the Tides. They are very alike and yet different. Victory Heights has guitars that are sporadic and heavy while having a great rhythm to them. They are also fast paced and can have a badass beat for the long of the entire track. The drums are unrelenting in that they continuously pound along throughout the entire album and they sound amazing when both paired with the guitars and by themselves. The vocals are especially great because they convey all the frustration and anger that the band’s tone and style emits and it is pulled off masterfully. This whole album is a great piece of work that deserves to be heard and honored among the throngs of metal fans out there looking for something heavy and well done. Victory Heights is what they’ll looking for and for now they’re partners in crime with We Rise the Tides.
