For those like me who can’t read Spanish for shit, the title of the album means “Chronicles of a Death Foretold” (thank you to my friends from Spain for that accurate translation). A really interesting title, but as I should’ve guessed. . . the entire album is sung in Spanish so I’ve not a fucking clue what they’re saying. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. Music doesn’t have to be sung in English to be good. Amon Amarth’s “Siegreicher Marsch (Victorious March)” is a great example of this. Anyway, while those who’ve read a chunk of my reviews can tell that I pay attention to the lyrics as a factor to how good an album is but it’s not the most important factor either. So since I couldn’t understand them, I decided to see how well they went with the guitars, drums, and rhythm which everyone can hear and understand no matter the nationality. The guitars in this album were really good and I enjoyed how they had some really nice riffs but also how they could take it in a complete 360 and do some notes that required skill and no doubt tons of practice to master. Throughout the whole album (which is 55 minutes long to my amazement) the drums had an excellent beat and rhythm to them that had a constant part in every song and it gave the tracks an addition that I appreciated a lot because without them there would’ve been a massive gap that only could be filled with the drums that just matched the drums and vocals perfectly. The tone was also pulled off well because you can feel the anger that is evident among throughout this piece that sounds great. As for how well the vocals went with everything else, they hit the nail on the goddamn head because they went great with everything even though I couldn’t understand shit. A really good album, however long, for someone who likes their metal a little dark and angry with just the right amount of heavy to fit this band perfectly.
