I’d like to thank the drummer of Great Reversals, Eric Scobie, for emailing me and informing me about “Natural Burial”. Never would’ve heard of this if he never told me, and I’m kinda glad that he did because this was a decent album to say in the least, however it’s not amazing. The vocals (in my opinion) seemed a little bit off beat with the guitars and drums and that kind of put me off a little bit because I like there to be synchronization among every member. But it did get better along the way so that was good. The guitars had a sound that was as rough as fucking sandpaper to them and that’s good because it gave the music a unique edge that many bands nowadays don’t have and could sometimes need. They have a rhythmic sound to them but they can sometimes stray from that and become more sporadic and hardcore whenever they feel like it and it doesn’t allow the listener to be constantly showered with the same exact thing every time, instead they get a different sound multiple times throughout each song. The drums had a constant beat through all of “Natural Burial” and it gave the rest of the band a constant that they could use as a rhythm without having to worry about fucking up, and it worked really well for the most part because the rhythm and beat of the three songs were more or less synchronized most of the time. “Natural Burial” was an overall decent album like I said before and it could’ve used something that would’ve made this a much better album. And I’m pretty sure you can already guess what that one thing is.
