Leatherneck – Medusa

20140731-190905-68945272.jpg I know the word “Medusa” isn’t on that cover, but trust me. . . that’s the right one. Best one I could find that didn’t look so blocky that it looked like a blind 2-year old with ADHD drew it. Anyway. . . I remember Leatherneck’s previous EP “Dust & Memories” and still listen to it to this day. So when I was messaged on Twitter by whoever manages the band’s account about “Medusa” I was pretty excited. And I was rightfully rewarded for my hopes. Leatherneck hasn’t lost their touch at all it seems. The album contains the same gritty feel and sound that was in “Dust & Memories” which is very good no matter how you look at it. The vocals retained their smooth flowing sound and lyrics that weren’t bullshit at all and went very well with the overall tone of “Medusa”. The guitars like I said still have that gritty sound to them that (to me) goes back to some of the grittier music from the 90’s that sounded like sandpaper rubbing against a salty surface, and I say that in the most positive way of course. And the drums have that good tapping sound that just about anyone can imitate and appreciate to help increase the quality of the songs in this album. The overall synchronization between all the band members is good and that gives each and every song a great sound to it that anyone from anywhere can enjoy even if you’re just listening to it for the sake of listening to something. So yeah. . . “Medusa” is really good.
