Apparently this is a Borderlands reference. Never played the Borderlands series but I know enough about it to know who/what Claptrap is and that made me skeptical about this single from Sisyphean Conscience’s upcoming debut album “Malignant Transformation”. For those of you who do know of Claptrap you might understand my skepticism for making a metal song as a reference to him, but this worked out well somehow. I’ll be honest, I never heard anything about Claptrap or Borderlands 1 or 2 in the entire song but maybe that’s because I wasn’t paying enough attention. But besides that one little oversight, the single is quite good. It has unrelenting and harsh vocals that had an amazing sound to them and went very well with the guitars that were really brutal. The drums also had a great beat to them that don’t end the entire album and it sounds really solid. If the rest of “Malignant Transformation” will be like this then I cannot wait to hear the full album especially since it’ll be Sisyphean Conscience’s debut full-length album which makes me all the more intrigued.
