“Sloughing Off the Shades” is the second EP from Beyond the Styx that (in my own personal opinion) was made for the more hardcore metal fans who can really listen to any metal and still like it. I’m not saying I didn’t like the EP, I liked it I really did. While it may not be something that’d I’d personally buy and throw on my iPod but it’s definitely something I’d listen to casually. The vocals have a  really good sound to them that I’m positive a lot of metalites will become accustomed to almost immediately. And the guitars and drums are absolutely brutal so that I really liked them and imagined many people headbanging to this all day long. While this was still a really solid EP in my eyes, “Sloughing Off the Shades” could use some small tweaking otherwise it’d be absolutely great, but that should all be ironed out when Beyond the Styx releases either their 3rd EP or first full length. Either way, “Sloughing Off the Shades” releases October 23 but you can listen to it in full via bandcamp.com which you can get a link to right below.
