With me never hearing an Atriarch album before (insert fan boys’ angry comments below just because of that), I walked into listening to this album not knowing at all what I was getting myself into. And luckily it all worked out beautifully and turns out that Atriarch has got something pretty good going on with their upcoming album “An Unending Pathway”. The first half was a little bit too slow for my personal taste, but I’m quite sure that some of you hardcore devout doom metal fans out there will get a few kicks out of this album. The pace intensifies in the middle, but it then goes back to slower until the very end. “An Unending Pathway” has a really hypnotic beat and rhythm to it that made it pretty hard to turn myself away from even in the not-so-favorable moments of the album. But overall, this wasn’t a bad album at all. It was good for a doom metal album, it just wasn’t all that pleasing to me compared to other doom metal acts I’ve heard before. However I’ve no doubt in my mind that people out there will absolutely love this album and they have all the reason in the world to love it.
