Okay whoever the fuck keeps saying that old school death metal is no longer thing is a fucking liar because Cemetery Filth’s “Screams From The Catacombs” is proof that it’s still very much a thing in today’s metal community. This EP goes back to the very roots of all death metal ever to the point that if you asked someone when this album came out they’d probably say the 80s because it sounds like it’s straight from that era of metal the entire time it’s going. The vocals just claw at your ears and then the guitars and drums just bust in an completely tenderize the remains with fast-paced brutality that goes on for the entire EP to the point where by the end all you can say is “damn” at how destroyed your ears now are. And come on – that cover art personifies this album too well! “Screams From The Catacombs” is (if you couldn’t tell by now) is an album that is more than likely to be a new essential for the classic death metal listeners out there who are looking for a taste of the golden (or maybe even blackened) years of death metal.
