It’s not every day that a new female-fronted death metal band pops up, you know. So when one does come up and record a debut album, you gotta get on it because you never know what it’ll be. And in this case with Zero Gravity, it worked out really, really well. Everything about this album just did an absolutely fantastic job at bringing to raw death metal to the ears of listeners from the moment that they first lay eyes on that cover because come on . . . it’s fucking awesome. The vocals really bring that raw feel that I just told you about by having the awesome end of death metal vocals along side the guitars that are a mix between thrash, death, and black metal and a little bit of doom metal a few times just to spice things up. While each and every one of these brutal songs have amazing sound to them and are just in general badass, “Democratic Warfare” has to take the cake for me because of its rhythm and has a completely awesome sound to it that got me as a fan of all metal going quickly because it had a little bit of the genres that I said early in a flawlessly amazing mix that was thrown into a badass 3 minutes and 38 seconds that doesn’t last long enough. And the rest of the album after that is personally better than the first half in my opinion. I’m not saying that the first half wasn’t good or it sucked ass because that can’t be any farther from the truth. Everything about “Holocaust Awaits” is badass in just about every single way a death metal album can be badass, it’s just my opinion that the second half satiates my need for hardcore metal just a little bit more. And with this being Zero Gravity’s debut album like I said, who knows what else they could do! Imagine a sophomore album just as badass as this . . . leaves a lot to think about for speculation and even more for anticipation and future excitement.
