Polanski – Between This and Hate

10686979_533966740037171_8319823911340342527_n Apparently there isn’t a really big grunge scene in Finland at the moment. Who knew? Not me, of course. But I found this extremely weird because . . . well Finland and the countries in that area are revered for having a massive metal community as we all know, so why isn’t there more variety like grunge? I’ll never know but this band, Polanski, is proof that Finnish people can make just about any rock and metal music and make it sound completely badass. And “Between This and Hate” is no exception to that rule at all. This entire album is a very good take on the genre and makes it at a more higher quality of music compared to other grunge bands I’ve heard and didn’t particularly connect with well. The vocals have a great sound to them with the guitars and drums that in my mind convey the grunge feel more just because of their rough sound and interesting riffs and so on. This is a debut album, too. So if you happen to really, really enjoy this album a lot then you can rest with confidence knowing that Polanski will (hopefully) bust out some more albums in the future that will (also hopefully) make you shit your pants as much as this did. As for me, “Between This and Hate” didn’t really make me soil myself, but it was a definitely worthy album bring more “awareness”, if you will, of grunge music to Finland so they can and then we can have more albums like this.
