Jonestown – The Erebus and the Terror

a3503295644_10 Alright. I need new pants. “The Erebus and the Terror” is an amazing album that while I personally would not place it in my top albums of the year (that list is already set just about) it is a damn good debut EP. If someone wanted me to show them a technical metal album that was heavy and brutal then I’d show them this because Jonestown fits that description perfectly. The vocals in this album have an amazing sound that are melodic at times and utterly hardcore at others but they both balance each other out so neither quite overpowers the other. The guitars and drums perfectly meld together so that they create something heavy that sounds fucking great all throughout the album but I have to say they reach their peak in the final track, “History of a Drowning Boy”, where everything becomes a little bit more melodic and it just sounded so fucking good to me. This entire EP was just great and I honestly recommend it if you’re simply looking for something heavy to listen to because Jonestown will not disappoint.
