If I didn’t know that this was a totally different band I would’ve thought that I was listening to Mastodon’s attempt at doom metal, and it wasn’t bad! It was pretty good in fact! “Red River” off of Acid King’s upcoming album “Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere” is an amazing example of doom metal done by someone who knows what the hell they’re doing because just the first minute sounded awesome and it had barely any notes and it had this great sound an rugged feel to it that felt really awesome. I can only imagine what the full album will sound like because this single alone shows that this might be one of the best doom metal albums of the year because of its rough texture, heavy guitars, and catchy vocals that followed the rhythmic beat of the drums that are done perfectly for not just me but for every doom metal fan out there. “Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere” comes out April 14 and you can stream “Red River” via SoundCloud below.
