Coming off of their latest and very successful album “Waiting for the End of Come”, Kataklysm has finally put out a new song that will be on their upcoming album “Of Gods and Ghosts”, and it’s an intense track to say in the least. The greatest thing that “Thy Serpent’s Tongue” brought to the table was an impressive set of guitars that brought the brutal riffs to make the single all the more catchy without losing that signature death metal sound that they’re know for. While I didn’t shit my pants over the vocals, they were definitely solid and fit perfectly with the tone and speed of both the guitars and the drums while bringing the perfect tone of death metal vocals for this sort of song and gave the track the touch it needed. For me though there wasn’t enough. . . pizazz you know what I mean? Nothing really made the song pop out to me and make me fall in love with it. But of course this is just one song and that doesn’t always spell the fate for its album. I’ve got expectations that “Of Gods and Ghosts” will really rattle my brain when it comes out July 21st which I will definitely be there to listen to in its entirety very gladly.
