From the very onset, Mork sets the bar high by bringing back their signature riffs, rugged soundscape, voracious attitude, and the classiness of great, classic black metal albums that are still relevant today. Every piece of “Eremittens Dal” is riddled with that classic black metal mastery that allows decades-old albums to remain stylish and entertaining, and while so many attempted the original style only Mork is the modern incarnation of everything coming together perfectly. We’re treated with a bone-chilling overtone, pristine instrumentation that’s perfect for black metal, and a sharp icy set of vocals that manage to cut through like butter all the way to the dying note of the record. The entirety of “Eremittens Dal” is a rollercoaster that takes you all over the dark and brooding landscape of Norwegian black metal scene to deliver us an album that’s an instant classic, and it’s so titanic that it has the clear potential to sweep across the globe to show newcomers to black metal what it means to truly exonerate classics and create some of your own.
