Earlier this year, Entrails put out of my absolute favorite records that I’ve heard this entire year, “World Inferno”. I absolutely adore a lot of the tracks off that monster and that’s the record that made me a fan of Entrails, and I figured I was going to have to wait a few years to hear more fresh material from Entrails. I forgot about one simple thing, though: B-sides. It didn’t occur to me that “World Inferno” had B-sides, but with the release of this new EP/single it appears that was very much the case, and this material is just as tantalizing as the parent record.

For those of you who are also familiar with the magnificence that is “World Inferno”, treat these two brand new tracks as an extension of the album. If you’re new to Entrails, then prepare for a damned good experience of a modern take on old school death metal done in a way few can accomplish. The catchy hooks and the truly guttural attitude that Entrails has been known for shows up yet again with “Death is the Right Path” to provide us with two brand new tracks of scathing death metal where each track seems catered for two classic kinds of death metal fans: the melodic loving group and the head-bangers. Luckily, both of these tracks apply to both groups. Whereas “Blood Burst” is a true onslaught of death metal with a gripping chorus that truly knows how to grind you into a fine red mist, the title track is where the real fucking power is at as it has the catchiness, the insanity, and the amazing sound that Entrails has become known for. And while this is far from a traditional release, “Death is the Right Path” is another fantastic addition to the Entrails discography that shows these Swedes are the real fucking deal!

The only “negative” thing that I can find about this gloriousness is that it’s a strictly digital release, but even then the pure quality and sheer excellence of these two tracks are more than enough to make up for that. Entrails has already impressed once this year, and they’ve made Christmas come a little early for many of us in the form of a second, smaller wave of blood and gore that’s all but irresistible.
