Germany has long been a place for quality meta to be constantly flowing out of. It comes in many different forms as all metal does, but more times than not what we get is incredibly satisfying to the very end. Accuser has long been a band that has made the country’s metal scene proud, and that feat has only continued into modern days as their return has been no less than triumphant. Following up their comeback album was definitely a challenge, but Accuser pulled it off splendidly.

Throughout the discography that Accuser has built up since their debut back in 1987, you can feel that Accuser has slowly been becoming more melodic in their work and incorporating more grooves while still aggressively enforcing their in-your-face attitude when it comes to their brand of thrash. With “The Mastery”, those of us that experienced the onslaught of Accuser’s previous effort, “Forlorn Divide”, aren’t going to find a whole lot of a difference this time around but in no way does that distract from the tastiness that these Germans whip up for this effort. The fifty minutes of intensity that we’re treated with here are made of the exact sort of thing that made Accuser an act to know in the first place and all of “The Mastery” shows that Accuser is still in top shape despite being one hell of a fucking performance for decades now. Every single one of these ten tracks with “The Mastery” shows that Accuser truly understands their craft by showing that they know how to deliver a performance that sticks to their core sound while not replicating the exact same album every single time. It’s a refreshing thing that’s attempted extremely often but rarely pulled off.

Accuser has always been one of those acts that I love keeping tabs on even if their not a personal favorite whatsoever. It’s interesting to me to see how they progress after going for so long, and I still enjoy it to this day as “The Mastery” is a brilliant display of everything that Accuser has created for decades now that’s wrapped in ten glorious tracks of intensity.
