Tolkien has long been a source of inspiration for many bands, and while plenty tried to embody his work way before Summoning came along the band easily had the most unique and impressive execution out of all bands before them. Since then, they’ve reigned supreme and have continued to define the world of Middle-earth translated into metal, and their brand new album is yet another brilliant testament to the otherworldly genius behind this group.

Bringing the magic, mysticism, epic scale, and overall grandeur to music form has always been something of a challenge that a multitude of bands have faced when doing their best to bring such a rich mythos to life. Summoning has done it several times at this point in their legendary career, and their latest epic of “With Doom We Come” is no less than a record that is more than worthy of being added to such an impressive discography. From start to finish, this hour-long album takes you to places as haunted and terrifying as the Barrow-downs and tells the tale of the misled king, Tar-Calion, and it’s all pulled off with spectacular fashion as Summoning does nothing but immense justice for the source material with every single second of “With Doom We Come”. You can really feel every drop of the tragedies, the pulse of true magic, and the sheer scope of epicness that pours through every second of these nine tracks to really make you feel like you’re watching a cinematic wonder that’s a true representation of Tolkien’s work brought to life through terrific talent. Summoning had already proven themselves to be more than capable over ten years ago, but it’s with this album that they demonstrate that they’re nowhere near finished impressing us with their splendor.

For yet another record, Summoning has brought us back to Middle-earth in their unique way to give us a unique vision that’s all but immaculate down to the very lyrics as they bring Tolkien’s work to life in exquisite detail yet again. “With Doom We Come” is no surprise for anyone familiar with Summoning, and any newcomers will find themselves blown away as they realize the legends behind this band are absolutely true.
