Abominablood – Abomination Continues

Creating blackened death metal is far from something that can be considered a hard task as the style is so fucking saturated nowadays that you have an infinite amount of bands to draw influence from and thus create your own flavors. That’s the difficult part as it can be hard to stand out from the rest, but sometimes a formula that has been done multiple times can still be used to create tasty concoctions. Abominablood has been an entity for ten years now, but their vicious approach has cemented them as part of the brutal underground scene of Argentina.

South America hasn’t always been the first place people look for whenever they want to hear new metal, but over the decades it has slowly garnered more and more interesting bands over the years with acts like Jupiterian being the latest craze to come from the continent. Abominablood has never come across my radar before, but it’s with their upcoming EP that I’m sure this act will find more fans and spread their very special plague across the world. In its essence, there’s nothing too spectacularly ground-breaking about “Abomination Continues” as it’s plenty of what there is to expect from blackened death metal, but Abominablood makes it fucking work! That’s easily my favorite part as it’s so easy to be lazy and make it a cookie-cutter record without making it fun to experience, but “Abomination Continues” shows that these guys clearly have a passion for the style and it translates to the sound itself. Everything about Abominablood is extremely vicious, the instruments are bloodthirsty to the very end, and the sheer attitude is nigh on voracious with everything about “Abomination Continues” wanting to claw at your flesh and drink your blood whilst being executed in tasteful fashion.

I’m so glad that after so long, bands like Abominablood can still come out of the woodwork of the global underground and intrigue me. “Abomination Continues” does almost nothing to the sound of blackened death metal, but I’ll be damned before I say they don’t do it excellent justice!
