Lady Electric – 4 Years After

Winding down after a long day is something that everyone everywhere can relate to. Music is something that’s essential for me after returning home from a long day at work, and from all the different styles I’ve heard there isn’t a better fit to wrapping up a long day than some instrumental psychedelic rock. It’s such a specific sound but it’s perfect because it relaxes the mind and puts you in a meditative state. If it’s done right, that is. Lady Electric had a few things to prove with their debut record, and you can instantly tell this trio pulled it off from the first track along.

Typically, I’m more of a guy that enjoys a mellow, hypnotic, and cool rhythm as opposed to a full-on jam session between bandmates despite the two takes being spectacular, but I firmly believe you have to switch things up every now and down. The debut record from this Polish trio treats us to soaring guitar work, delicious beats, and tantalizing instrumentation as everything about “4 Years After” is practically everything that makes the allure of instrumental psychedelic rock so sensational in the fucking first place. Viturally nothing is wrong with what Lady Electric has created here as I can’t find a single thing to dispute over other than the album’s name. Four years after what? Fuck if I know or care because from the mellow valleys that Lady Electric have carved to the colorful heights of supernova that us listeners fly through freely as “4 Years After” demonstrates excellent musicianship and a fantastic sense as to what makes a great record of the genre. Usually, it can take a band at least two EPs and a full-length to get the hang of properly doing this style, but Lady Electric fucking nails it on the first go!

There’s nothing that could’ve prepared me for this debut. I went in with a certain expectation given the style, but Lady Electric simply blew my expectations out of the water with the sheer quality that these eight tracks bring to the table. If “4 Years After” is anything to give us in the future, then I can’t fucking wait to hear more!
