At any given moment on Bandcamp, there are always a select few albums or artists that are quite literally always on rotation as people are always buying them so we always see them pop up on the charts. Mesarthim, Master Boot Record, and Panopticon are but a few entries that qualify, but death metal has always had Necros Christos as a solid representative for Bandcamp. Their final record has been clouded in a deep shroud of mystery for years, but now we finally get to bask in the last and glorious testament that Necros Christos has prepared, and it’s a sermon of pure black magic.

Something that people have always found fascinating about Necros Christos is how fucking long their albums are with their last clocking in over 70 minutes, and the trend only gets even crazier with “Domedon Doxomedon” as this opus is almost fucking two hours long! That’s a lot to digest especially with it all being spread across a whopping 27 tracks, but, as you might imagine, the lengths from one song to another varies immensely as one could be a small sliver that’s but a little piece of dark ambiance while the very next would be a six to fourteen minute onslaught of the bloodthirsty death metal that Necros Christos simply excels at. “Domedon Doxomedon” is a record that you likely can’t just flick on and put in the background like a lot of music if you want to really say you listened to it. Necros Christos once again employs so many mechanics and moving parts into this new album that really shows their great hand at musicianship and how well they can bring so many different and even alien sounds to a core of death that’s just as much haunting as it is satisfying. The sheer diversity and up-and-down nature that permeates every moment of “Domedon Doxomedon” is the sort of thing that makes it such a treat as well as a worthy final opus for an act that has been a real treat for us fans for years.

It’s a real experience of death metal that we rarely ever get and it’s incredibly fitting that it would be Necros Christos who gives us an album that death metal has been needing for quite some time now. They will surely be missed but the grandeur of “Domedon Doxomedon” is an album the likes of which any band would be proud of and it’s a nigh on fitting piece to close out a terrific run with.
