With all the many different takes on death metal that there are in this world with all the many different bands there are, it’s a wonder to me that crust hasn’t made its way into death metal more than it already has. We’ve seen it take on many great forms from different bands like Down Among the Dead Men just to name one, but it’s with Morderca that we get to see a new take on such a sound with a demo that’s as bold as it is explorative.

Most of the time whenever I sit down and listen to a demo, I always take it will the smallest grain of salt because I know that the songs are about as raw as they’re ever going to be and that we shouldn’t expect the sound quality to be out of this world which some rely on. That being said, what Morderca has brought forth with these five tracks really bring the spirit and power of crusty death metal to the front stage with a performance the likes of which I haven’t seen in almost a solid year. With riffs abound and a tenacity to not sit still for long, Morderca provides us with a vicious listen that really highlights the punk that has so heavily influenced this Polish act, and that’s not even mentioning the classy cover we get here. Too often do I see bands just be loud and forget to actually sound good by the end of it, but that’s far from a problem with Morderca as it’s each track that has something tasty to offer or sink your teeth into as this act doesn’t disappoint with this demo that’s sure to just be the start of something interesting.

As is the case with many demos that I’ve had the fortune of reviewing in my years, this band could change nothing about everything with this demo and I would happily come crawling back to hear more and more crusty death goodness! Morderca only has five songs to their name, but they leave one hell of an impression and promises nothing short of an absolute banger with both this release and future ones.
