Ketzer – Cloud Collider

There have been many occasions where I’ve gone to sit down and just to an album with the simple goal of just letting the album taking me wherever the fuck it pleases. And to be completely honest, I didn’t think Ketzer was going to do anything particularly special just because that’s how I go into albums the vast majority of the time. But it’s with this record, in particular, that Ketzer has delivered an album that is by far one of the best this style is going hear for quite some time.

With the brand new Frosthelm album coming out just a few days ago to melt all of our faces, I was pretty damned sure just earlier today that the world of blackened thrash wasn’t going to get much better for me as I felt I reached an early peak this year with the style. Yet, with virtually no warning, Ketzer has come barrelling out of their homeland to deliver us a record that has shaken my previous thought to the very core with these ten tracks being yet another staggering contention for what’s surely some of the most delicious material we have gotten and are sure to get from blackened thrash. Such a sentence may seem like a throwaway line, but I can nothing but promise that the greatness of “Cloud Collider” is nothing short of staggering that’s sure to make you feel the very same should you give it the opportunity. Everything about “Cloud Collider” comes together beautifully in order for this album to be a brilliant amalgamation of blood-boiling speed, a vicious attitude that permeates every possible moment, riffs that occur just often enough to keep us wanting more and more as Ketzer demolishes at every turn they ever could.

Each strike is expertly placed and Ketzer maximizes their time to the extreme as this album culminates into a creation that’s just as fiery as that cover art would make you think, and yet Ketzer somehow manages to out-do that time after time.  I’ve sunk so much more time into “Cloud Collider” than I thought I initially would, and now I can’t help but urge you to investigate this album the moment it’s out as it is precisely the sort of voracious metal that we clamor for, and Ketzer delivers the goods with deadly intent.

“Cloud Collider” releases on April 12th via Metal Blade Records!
