Tumanduumband – s/t

A worn out but somehow timeless trope that doom metal has had at its core for decades now is the use of Satanic themes, and it’s the sort of thing that, depending on the band at hand, can feel immensely watered down or straight up yawn-inducing to one of the main driving forces of a record. When your music is instrumental, it might seem impossible to make Satanic themes prominent, but that’s precisely what Tumanduumband has done with their debut demo that showcases tons of fuzz and loads of potential to go along with it.

I’ll be honest with you, I could’ve never discovered that this was a demo I wouldn’t have had a single problem with this release in the slightest. That’s not to say I have issues with it since it is a demo, but rather the quality and excellence amongst this deep underground release is the sort of thing whose sound could go untouched and I’d be incredibly happy as just about everything that Tumanduumband went for on this demo was executed magnificently. Everything in these four tracks is constantly layered in an immensely thick and satisfying amount of fuzz that is a presence that doesn’t abide for anything but the riffs and classic slow rhythms that Tumanduumband weave together gloriously as this demo churns like a coal-fueled engine from one track to the next. And where some lyrics might go, we get some choice sound bites that throw in that tasty Satanic influence right before the satisfying fuzz makes it beautiful entrance as Tumanduumband does no less than slowly grind your bones to dust as this demo does a shocking amount of damage as this duo does nothing but dominate for its entirety.

There are few things more promising than a really good demo, and that’s especially true in this scenario with these four tracks being the sort of thing to get you really excited for whatever else the act could produce in the future. To say the least, Tumanduumband has absolutely slain with this demo and it’s in the future that they’re sure to do more with somehow even more excellence. Just you watch.
