Seeking to improve your craft and better yourself is a concept that every single kind of content creator can relate to on some level. Hell, even someone like me that just types this shit for you all wants to do better, make it more enjoyable for myself as well as consumers, and, ultimately, better the quality of what I make. Music is far from different and seeing bands come back around to my ears after years is a unique pleasure, and it’s with their brand new album that my eyes once again fell upon Dead Acid People who has not remained still since their debut three years ago.
The classic formula of a decent stoner rock sound is one that has remained virtually unchanged ever since its inception, and it’s the sort of thing that has seen loads upon loads upon loads of iterations over the decades with so many different acts not bringing anything new to the table whatsoever. But, that doesn’t make them bad albums in the slightest as an album can still be fun to listen to if there’s not much originality in the style. And if “Earth, Weed & Fire” is anything it’s definitely fun as Dead Acid People kicked up the quality quite a bit with their second effort being a very enjoyable slab of stoner rock from beginning to end. Taking that sound we’ve all come to know, Dead Acid People makes for gripping riffs and smooth vocals paired with fantastic songwriting that’s only further backed by the satisfying crunch of the instruments to make each track from the churning of “Fuzz You” to the mildly psychedelic “Cosmic Trails” to the immaculate finale of “Wrong Faith”. Granted, there’s still loads of improvement to be made with “Earth, Weed & Fire”, but in no way whatsoever does that make this record a weak one as it’s everything you could ask for out of an album that’s true to the roots of the style and breathes life into it yet again.
In every way, I find this record to be a massive step up from its predecessor and “Earth, Weed & Fire” is simply material that I can sink my teeth into while simultaneously kicking back to as the riffs toll away. From top to bottom, this is an improvement that Dead Acid People should be proud of and it’s even more proof that this act is one that may not make a massive splash in their time, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t a hell of a fun time.
