There seems to be an attitude that’s making its way through death metal that seeks to tear away at the very concept of the human condition with fire and acid. It’s been happening for a long time but there just seems to be more death metal bands mixing their sound with crust nowadays, and holy shit does it just work! Bones have been honing that very craft for a decade now, and even though I haven’t heard their previous works, I can’t up but feel the utmost confidence in saying that this new album has got to be not only their strongest work but one of the strongest works of its style.

The very essence of this album could be likened to writhing maggots squirming wildly inside a rotting wall whilst fresh blood streams down its surface; that’s how filthy and fucked up Bones has made the aptly named “Diseased”. This is a record whose very purpose in life is to consume all other forms of life with a ravenous hunger that cannot be sated even when it has only itself to devour which then it shall consume itself in rabid desire! The blood-curdling vocals are absolutely perfect in their deranged ferocity along with the eviscerating guitars that don’t even understand the very concept of no riffs as the drums provide a chaotic pulse that always keeps the blood flowing through each exhilarating track in every single act of their brutal glory. “Diseased” was made to really go for the throat as there isn’t a lenient element about these eleven tracks of unbridled bloodlust for it’s even in the calm moments that Bones are skillfully placing the sharp spikes for you to soon be impaled upon once they turn that aggression back on high. And it all just sounds so fucking good! The riffs never once cease to impress, the whole attitude of “Diseased” is what could power a riot through the streets, and the very “fuck you” sound that permeates every note is enough to awaken the anarchist in everyone as Bones then proceeds to drench us all in their brand of crusty death metal that’s nigh on intoxicating!

Chicago clearly has many secrets crawling around between its building and on its streets, and Bones is a devious secret that’s simply deadly to the touch. There isn’t a single thing about “Diseased” that doesn’t qualify it as one of the most potent, destructive, satisfying, seductive, or maniacal albums of the crust-death world that we’ve gotten in years!
