I cannot explain to you how much I love coming across little gems in the underground that are sadly almost certainly destined to be damned to near obscurity, but that makes discovering them all the sweeter and more special. Wraith has been a name that I’ve been keeping an eye on ever since their debut EP years ago, and it was last year that they delivered their first full-length that expanded greatly upon their sound and talent. I was not expecting such a quick response from Wraith as I expected maybe some vicious touring, but they refused to stay out of the studio! And what’s come of that is nothing short of phenomenal and every bit of awesome that Wraith has always hinted at.

“Absolute Power” is the perfect name for this album in every fucking way, and in every single aspect, this record has the potential to wash over the scene like a tsunami of black-laced thrash metal that hundreds, if not thousands of people, could instantly rally behind. Wraith brings forth a vicious and all-consuming brand of blackened thrash that is instantly intoxicating and the exact sort of material that I’ve been needing several shots of as I forgot how good this shit can sound! Truly, everything that’s poured into the ten tracks that “Absolute Power” wields with deadly intent are everything that’s needed to create a great album from top to bottom for devilish energy that never gives up to an attitude that is pure defiance to all that is to the vocals that are simply enrapturing to the instruments that know how to constantly invigorate you with each track to how fucking catchy everything is to just how fucking awesome it all comes together! Wraith pulled out all the stops they could’ve done with this record, and it shows at every feasible turn. Every song is its own riot that knows no peace. Each riff is a nail in the coffin for conformity. All points of execution are done with mastery and magnificence that makes this a rare album of its kind without a doubt. And it’s every single note that continues to make “Absolute Power” a devastating trip that has allowed this experience to pin itself at the very fucking top of the genre for the year so quickly that it’s fucking blinding!

When I found out that Wraith was dishing out a new record, I got excited. But there is no fucking way I would’ve been able to guess they were going to bring something like this to the table. I knew they had it in them, but I figured we were at least one album away from such a creation, and I couldn’t be happier to be proven wrong! Wraith has created something immensely special with this record, and the only way to play “Absolute Power” is with your fist high and the volume maxed out.
