+Mrome+ – Leech Ghetto

There are a lot of different things that any given band can do when just given thrash metal as a base to expand upon, and there are countless bands that have made plenty of good works out of such an idea as they don’t allow themselves to not be cornered or trapped by any one style in particular. +Mrome+ showed off what they could do when I heard their last album when it came out, and it surprised me more than I thought it would. It’s with their impending follow-up, though, that they show exactly what they can do.

What I particularly enjoy about this sound is how much it stretches the world of thrash while the style can always be picked up no matter how far +Mrome+ stretches it to fit their needs. It can become quite tedious in some instances where what’s even the point of trying to call yourself “thrash” or whatever style you’re stretching when it doesn’t even sound remotely like it? Fortunately, +Mrome+ such a pitfall. They masterfully show us in all nine tracks that grace “Leech Ghetto” that they can bring thrash to completely fresh territories through many different melodies and textures that constantly make this entire album feel organic and, ultimately, a fun riot. There’s so much brilliant energy that’s woven through this upcoming album that shows us the growth that +Mrome+ has undergone since their last release and it delivers on just about every front. Every corner of “Leech Ghetto” has something intriguing to call its own as we see a consistent power on display that rarely pulls back outside of making for a more powerful punch not soon after the ever-classy drawback.

It all culminates for a solid experience that shows off loads of what +Mrome+ has learned in such a short amount of time, and that’s a lot given the sheer gap in excellence from their first album to this and it’s quite intoxicating to listen to after a while. “Leech Ghetto” is far from a flawless piece, but +Mrome+ did one hell of a job bringing this album to life gloriously.

“Leech Ghetto” releases on October 11th!
