The influence of the legendary and iconic Swedish death metal that we see everywhere now that originated somewhere between the late 80s and mid-90s is something that will almost never seem to get old. But why should it be that we only ever hail that style when it comes from the style’s homeland? Obviously, tons of other bands have tried their hand at replicating that same flavor with the HM2 sound being quite popular in many cases. The style has taken a solid representation in Germany of that I’m sure, but it’s with Germany’s Endseeker that has taken their worship of the sound into a grand assault.
Just being able to hear the first few seconds of any given album and being able to tell what the entirety of that body of work is going to sound like can easily result in a poor listening experience since diversity can really make or break a record. And yet, Endseeker feels completely at home as their Swedish-influenced assault on the brain is incredibly enjoyable from beginning to end with there being virtually no downtime whatsoever as “The Harvest” does no less than utterly dominate at every possible turn. The ten morsels that are gifted to us here are constantly rewarding us with greatness and crunchy death metal that doesn’t know how to not chug with all of its heart as Endseeker demolishes with every single track in the utmost devastating fashion. Whether it’s with a face-melting riff thrown in or a sheer onslaught of pure aggression that could peel away at the very crust of the earth, there isn’t a single speck of what Endseeker has brought to the table with “The Harvest” that can’t be hailed as a grand set of satisfaction that modern death metal fans constantly crave for! It’s pure brutality in some of its most potent forms and Endseeker wields it with such ferocity that it’s almost a joy to witness them throw it all around with such force and purpose as they carve out mountains from the planet with only the sound of this album as their fuel to do so.
I often think a style that was made by the Swedes is best left in their hands, but there are always exceptions and Endseeker has easily proven themselves to be one with their constant show of dominance through force that is “The Harvest”. Left or right, up or down, front to back – there isn’t a single thing about this massive fucking record that isn’t pulled off with deadly excellence!
