Sacrilege – The Court of the Insane

It’s often for me to consider the future of heavy metal as a style whenever I come across a new band that does nothing but justice for the style when it comes to their quality and performance. Bands like Visigoth have given me plenty of hope in absolute heaps, but what happens when bands come back from the dead to deliver us a brand of heavy metal that is virtually untouched as the band was around in the heyday of the heavy metal itself? Sacrilege has been answering that answer for many years now, but it’s only to today that I’ve finally heard what excellence they bring to the table.

It’s a bit late for me to say that Sacrilege has freshly risen from the dead given they’ve been pumping out records for the last eight years and this year has proved to be no different with this markable album proving to be far from a shadow of the past but rather a strong flame that’s been burning for decades now as Sacrilege has sought to carry the torch of heavy metal as the current legends start to get on in years. But it means almost nothing if they don’t do the sound justice, and to say they do is simply to call the pleasing album of “The Court of the Insane” not worth listening to which couldn’t be any further from the truth. Every track that Sacrilege brings to the table here could have very well been pulled right out of the 80s to be hailed as something akin to classic material that could have a ravenous fanbase around it, and it’s all of “The Court of the Insane” that delivers that exact level of quality for its entirety with the glorious riffs, fitting vocals, and immaculate performances from beginning to end that continuously seal the deal that Sacrilege is not a band to be taken lightly whatsoever. Countless new bands have tried to accomplish that with varying degrees of success, and it’s only fitting that a band that was there during the original days can keep it going without breaking a single sweat for the entirety of this respectable work.

It’s clear from just the history of Sacrilege that they have got the original flame of heavy metal still burning in their hearts as they continue to perform it with spectacular passion and talent. “The Court of the Insane” is far from an album that’s to be looked over should you be any sort of fan of heavy metal, and just one spin is simply criminal to an album like this that performs well at every single turn.
