It’s been since the last release from Elder that I was curious when the next piece of exciting instrumental rock of any sort would cross my path, and, thankfully, it didn’t take long. Psychedelia tends to work all too well with the voiceless corner of rock with a staggering number of bands bringing justice to the concept and here is no different. It’s with their debut effort that Praÿ has created something that I’d happily consider along the lines of My Sleeping Karma in their early days as it has so much the same vibe, but there’s so much of a unique identity that’s all but delicious to dig into.

While I’ve always been the type of guy to take my psychedelia to the absolute maximum level as I truly believe it’s best done when it’s done with no hesitation whatsoever and the band in question just goes all in, a solid band that can know when to pull back and deliver a calculated experience that’s just as engaging as it is trippy is something that we can really never get enough of I’ve noticed. Praÿ is, without a doubt, a great example of that as it’s with the eponymous debut effort that they deliver to us an experience that I really do think we’re in for something special down the line from this band as it’s here that we’re already gifted something pretty great to begin with. There’s so much intigue and grandeur poured into every note that Praÿ brings forth here and that it’s nigh on admirable and intoxicating to witness even in the humblest of moments that this album throws at us, and it’s every single one of them that I can’t help but lap up every turn it’s thrown at my fucking face because of how amazingly good they are to eat right up. Whether it’s between the immaculate psychedelia or the crunchy riffs that adorn every piece of this debut like a classy seasoning that just keeps on giving. Praÿ has created something for any fan of instrumental or psychedelic rock, and I cannot help but see this band become so much more even just on their next work as it’s here we see greatness already unfold in such a way that’s nigh on tantalizing to behold on every level.

I truly did mean my comparison to early My Sleeping Karma with Praÿ and I don’t say that lightly because of my high respect for the former and now the level of expectation and interest that I have in Praÿ is now almost equal after just a single album but it truly does speak for itself. All throughout this work, there’s so much to behold at just about every turn, and it’s each one that gives something different and amazing in each instance.
