It’s ever so slowly that the world of post-metal that I find myself delving more into as the years go on, and it’s the more time that I put into the style that I’m really starting to see just how interesting it can be in some of the most unsuspecting of places. Metide has never been a band that has ever crossed my radar before, and I wonder why that is because it’s a real travesty given the excellent performance that they’ve put on for this whole album that makes me wonder just why this band isn’t getting more recognition.

Sadly, the reason why Metide and “Solution” aren’t getting a lot of attention is because of the same reason many other bands of their kind aren’t: the underground is a truly vast realm the likes of which continuously expand no matter how many great bands we get from it. The corner of that expanse which post-metal bands inhabit can easily be overlooked if you don’t know just how rich in quality those bands can be, and it’s here with Metide that we get a great example of just how awesome the style can become with the five tracks that make up “Solution” being one great reason after another. Despite the fact that two of the tracks are super quick, atmospheric interludes, that doesn’t take away from the sheer power that Metide brings to the table here. There are so many aspects of this record that come together so incredibly well from the unyielding tenacity, a great power that’s oozing out of every track, and atmosphere that’s as selective in its appearance as deadly it is in its potency. “Solution” easily shifts from subtle to bold at the drop of a hat in such a way that the overall quality is truly something to behold and something that I’d easily recommend for any fan of the style in any sort, but it’s the fact that this is so early on in the existence of Metide that I’m more than keen to see what this band is capable of in the future because I know damn well they can perform at a good level because all you have to do is look at “Solution” for proof! With so much to build upon with an already rock-solid foundation, what’s not to get excited about?

It’s all too often that post-metal gets snubbed from the greater part of purveyors of the underground of metal unless a bigger band like Cult of Luna or Minsk put something out, but it’s bands like Metide are why I keep finding myself coming back to the style on a much more regular basis. If “Solution” is just the start of what we’re to get from this band in the future then I can’t fucking wait to get my hands on it!
