The sheer amount of progressive acts out there that actually try to push the boundaries of their respective styles is not small whatsoever by any means, but it’s a mere fraction of those that actually pull it off in such a way that leaves people floored. Very few bands have been able to do it as well or as consistently as Intronaut, and it’s with their forthcoming effort that they show us they’re nowhere near calling quits.

The very colors on that cover art should give us an inkling of just what mastery Intronaut is busting out yet again for their latest outing, but, really, the band’s discography very much speaks for itself on so many different levels as Intronaut’s expertise is a show like very few others, if any other at all. So, going into the colorful depths of “Fluid Existential Inversions”, was there really any doubt as to whether or not we’d be floored by what was brought to the table? I would think not, and the confines of this record certainly do deliver on a scale that is no less than delectable by all accounts as Intronaut left no stone unturned or any tricks up their sleeves as the entirety of “Fluid Existential Inversions” is something to behold for the entire progressive metal world to study and love for many years to come. Right when you think Intronaut might be getting “stuck” in a groove or even a certain sound, they turn down a street we never saw coming in an absolute heartbeat such that we almost get whiplash, but what’s down that road is glorious on so many levels. It’s all incredibly captivating to witness whether it’s a vicious riff, hypnotic drums, or dynamic vocals that don’t know how to disappoint. It’s several moments throughout “Fluid Existential Inversions” that it could be said that Intronaut has provided us with their best work yet, and I can’t see much argument as to the contrary as this is truly a release to be reckoned with as is the case with all of their albums.

There is just so much to sink your teeth into for the entirety of this record that it would be an absolute challenge to say that it doesn’t hold up to the name that Intronaut has made for themselves, and it’s at every turn that they continued to impress without hesitation or struggle. Every ounce of “Fluid Existential Inversions” is something to behold in its own right as Intronaut holds their claim as one of the kings of all of progressive metal, and it’s with just one listen of this spectacular record that we can see why that’s so.
