Night – High Tides – Distant Skies

The number of bands out there that try and bring back the sound of classic rock in a pleasing way is quite small in the grand scheme and the list of those that I get genuinely excited about with new material with exponentially smaller. Ever since their last album, “Raft of the World”, Night has unequivocally been at the very top of that list. They’ve absolutely mastered the fusion of classic rock and proto-metal in ways that many can only ever dream of accomplishing, and it’s with their upcoming album that they only further prove just that.

Despite taking more of the classic rock elements into more consideration than the proto-metal or even an equal mixture, that doesn’t mean either side solely holds the stage or is completely absent. Night finds a damn good harmony between the two in order to bring to us a very special blend of music that could have been released decades ago and found tens of thousands of fans without any sort of trouble as Night has got the sound down to a science, undoubtedly. Every single track that we see here with “High Tides – Distant Skies” is a love letter to the true golden days of classic rock where it constantly sold-out stadiums and what so many people look back on and listen to for immense nostalgia, but Night doesn’t live in nostalgia. They live in the here and the now as they keep the old spirit more than alive with this album in such tremendous fashion and undeniable talent that it’s no less than stunning in so many different ways as “High Tides – Distant Skies” astonishes with every new offering. Night has only become more formidable with age, and if “Raft of the World” wasn’t enough proof of that then it’s here with “High Tides – Distant Skies” that the argument should be put to rest forever.

So much of what has gone into this tremendous record is what throngs of people, including myself, are constantly on the lookout for whether we know it or not simply because this a sound people rarely get tired of. It’s catchy, gripping, emotional, and so well executed that you just can’t help but fall into what Night has crafted here that is nigh on infectious that if this doesn’t propel the band’s name further into fame then I will be absolutely infuriated. “High Tides – Distant Skies” is more than deserving of any lauds that it receives, and I’ve no doubt in my mind that Night still has much more glory to throw our way in the future.

“High Tides – Distant Skies” releases on September 11th!
