Triúr – Now’s The Time

It’s much more often than not that most hard rock I find feels like the sort of material that’s actively trying to get on the radio for one reason or another, and it also feels like the vast majority of them fail because there’s no real passion or effort being put into what’s being done. It lacks soul even if there are mention-worthy riffs or a half-decent voice that accompanies everything. But, sometimes, we get something that meets just enough of the quota to get me satisfied. With Triúr, that’s definitely the case.

I will admit that there’s much to this record that I wish we had gotten, but that’s not to say that what Triúr has done here with this EP is anything to dismiss or tag as uninteresting. Throughout “Now’s the Time”, there is clear passion in what this act is doing with a nice flair to it all that wraps around all the melodic-tinged hard rock that’s far from anything to scoff at but it’s clear that they have a long way to go despite showing obvious talent. This is one of those works that you can just turn on in the car for a casual listen and it would fit right in with just about any situation as “Now’s the Time” is just that accessible and entertaining for anyone who is able to just get into some nice rock music without having to even think about it, and I can’t help but feel that the vast majority of us are capable of just that. With riffs and attitude brought to the table in just the right portions, there isn’t much that is not to be enjoyed with what’s to be had within the confines of this humble EP. There’s still much for this band to uncover should they want to create something particularly interesting, but even then I can’t deny that “Now’s the Time” is a fun piece regardless.

There are many rock acts out there that could be better for a number of reasons, and Triúr is no different even if there is still plenty for the band to learn in order to become a much more interesting act overall. “Now’s the Time” definitely meets the requirements for just a decent EP, but there are seeds of real quality in this work that should not be ignored by anyone looking for a good time.
