Sometimes, it really does the soul good to just take things down a few notches, slow everything down, and just let the soul create whatever music may come. That’s often some of the most interesting music especially when it comes to wanting something with real emotion soaked into every note, and blues is a great place to go in every single way. It’s a style that I’ve been familiar with ever since my childhood, but I’ve never really taken a decent dive into what it has to off. If the latest from Thus Humans Live is just a hint of what modern blues bands have to offer then I need to hear a lot more.
What I’ve always found interesting about what blues has to offer versus what many other veins of rock may boast is that the energy is almost always minimal to moderate in “extreme” cases. Even then, throngs of bands have been able to make the style just as interesting with all the passion that’s worked into every note along with the absolutely terrific sound that seemingly ever album contains with a bass-forward approach that is nigh irresistible in many cases. Thus Humans Live is just another example of such with the entirety of “Dual Duality” being something that I cannot help but become enamored with every time that I find myself listening to it. It’s got so much of what has always many all sorts of blues rock so interesting to begin with and it’s everything about “Dual Duality” that just keeps adding onto it from the tremendous riffs packed into every minute to the soul-touching emotion that’s pulled off wondrously. That’s not even taking into account just how infectious the work is with there being so much to sink your teeth into for any of the six tracks that Thus Humans Live give us here which is easily one of the best parts of the album that’s always a tremendous addition to have no matter what. When it’s all brought together, it becomes very clear that Thus Humans Live have made an incredibly respectable piece of the genre that’s more than worthy of anybody’s attention and, surely, it’s just a glimpse as to what this French act is truly capable of.
I think it’s safe to say that it’s almost solely because of this album that I’m going to go find more blues music to enjoy in my free time. If this is what a relatively young band can bring forth then I can only fathom what a really experienced act can produce! Thus Humans Live have created something more than interesting across the entirety of “Dual Duality”, and it’s absolutely something that I’m going to be crawling back to for some time.
