With the sprawling expanse of ever-changing hellscapes that are known as death metal, it’s not surprising to find just as much material that sounds reminiscent of many others as well as material that innovates to brand new territory. It’s in the old school regions, though, that we oftentimes find the densest populations that many bands find comfort in whether it be out of reverence for what it has accomplished in the past or a desire to preserve its glory as time marches forth. When it comes to the second full-length from Cadaver Putrefacto, I can’t help but feel both are in full swing.

It can often be the case that the simplest approach can be the most effective, and death metal is just one of several kinds of styles in metal that prove that tactic to be incredibly effective with bands of all kinds from all over proving it to have credence. There’s nothing quite like stripping some well-done death metal to its most basic forms such that we are left with only the core essentials: brutality, riffs, and an unquenchable drive. In the simplest of terms, that’s precisely what we got here with the newest effort from Cadaver Putrefacto being no less than an exemplary display of what it takes to make the old school of death metal shine brighter than a spray of blood in the sunshine. It’s the exact sort of stuff that many modern death metal fans are clamoring for in some form or another with every aspect of “Ritual de Exsanguinación” being what drives the style forward even in this modern climate. From its production, the true understanding that Cadaver Putrefacto clearly has for the sound, and a beyond tasteful execution, this nine-track onslaught holds up for absolutely nothing as it becomes more and more clear with each fresh and devastating song that this Argentinian act is far more capable than what we may initially expect for it is by the first listen that we know Cadaver Putrefacto is not to be underestimated with every successive listen providing more blood-drenched gifts to be taken with immense delight.

These are nine tracks of pure unadulterated death metal that’s always warranted no matter what times we find ourselves in or how bountiful the scene as been as a whole for gifts like these are never unwelcome, and if this is just the start of what Cadaver Putrefacto can serve then I’m more than happy to eat every course that they’re to bring forth after this. It’s in every waking moment of “Ritual de Exsanguinación” that we see peak death metal the likes of which is still immensely intoxicating even if Cadaver Putrefacto has only put out two full-length albums with this outstanding release.
