Power is one the absolute most important factors when it comes to crafting a proper death metal album, but it takes a true master of the craft in order to create a work that can really be considered pulverizing from start to finish without exception. Easily, Endseeker’s sound has become synonymous with that concept as it’s power that has been a constant in all of their releases alongside undeniable quality, and it was upon seeing a new album on the horizon only two years after the last that I found my eyebrow raised in immense intrigue. As if without breaking a damn sweat, Endseeker’s latest opus does nothing but continue their upward momentum throughout the cutthroat world of modern death metal.

There’s nothing quite like an album of any variety of extreme metal that can properly wrap your entire being with its crushing aura while the ears are constantly beset by next-level riffage and savagery the likes of which is all but textbook for any album of its kind that’s worth its own salt. Ever since they came onto the scene, Endseeker has never been lacking when it comes to delivering that immense glory, and it was with the very announcement of a new album that I knew the name would deliver yet again on their third full-length album with it only continuing the excellence that was set up perfectly with “Flesh Hammer Prophecy” and then given a proper upgrade with “The Harvest”, but it is with “Mount Carcass” that the argument can be made that we are seeing Endseeker truly come into their own. Far from anything new as far as death metal goes but executed with supreme and unquestionable mastery, all nine tracks that are put forth in this record are the very definition of all-consuming as it’s not just with that aforementioned power that Endseeker rules over for this release but it’s with a much more keen sense of melody that’s spread gorgeously throughout the whole of “Mount Carcass” that makes it the alluring work that just continues to draw you in whether it’s your first listen or your tenth. The jagged meat hooks that Endseeker wield throughout every moment of the record are handled with murderous precision that never once lets up when it comes to quality or intensity to make all nine tracks a truly overwhelming listen that is all but adept at drawing the listener in more and more such that it’s by the end of this aural onslaught that the mind will go into withdrawal without the overwhelming grandeur that Endseeker is becoming more than proficient at delivering, and it won’t be long before you’ll find yourself taking a nose-dive back in.

The love for the Swedish vein of death metal has always been strong in Endseeker’s sound and they’ve done nothing but justice for it as each of their releases have presented us with unquestionable quality that always keeps us coming back for more, and anyone would be a fool to try and suggest that this new opus is any different. It’s right from the fucking get-go that “Mount Carcass” is setting itself up to be what can be considered the most cohesive and flesh-hungry record that Endseeker has put out thus far which is saying a lot given this band’s history, but I’m very much inclined to say that very scenario was achieved in this massive record.
