Hell’s Coronation – Silver Knife Mysticism

While black metal remains as one of the great bastions for innovation in all that metal can be despite how narrow-minded far too many can be when regarding the style, but it’s without even straying far from those classic core ideals of the sound that we can still find new things to discover. In the reaches where black and doom metal overlap there are plenty of settlements to be had that have been around for some time, but I truly believe that there’s so much more to be had out of that particular expanse for all that it could possibly bring to the table. Something about a prolonged suffering with a precise focus on the black metal aspect of it all is something that I think needs more looking into, and it’s with their forthcoming EP that Hell’s Coronation has returned to us to give us a glimpse of how it’s properly done.

It feels much more than only two years ago that Hell’s Coronation came unto this world with their first effort since it really did bring a lot forward not only for the band’s debut but listeners everywhere since it was a true breath of fresh air despite staying very in line with what many of us would come to expect out of the world of black/doom metal with everything shown being deadly right from the beginning and the possibilities seeming to be all but endless should the band pursue down the same path. In every way, they did just that for the follow-up EP where the only lamentation I could ever have for it is how it has but three tracks to its name. That being said, it’s the very whole of “Silver Knife Mysticism” that stands tall on its own without faltering for even a second and it’s in each track that we can practically see the gears turning inside the minds behind this act and hearing the sound of their devilish blades against the sinister grindstone. There is so much ferocity throughout this effort with every moment of “Silver Knife Mysticism” taking its time without letting anything in the world making Hell’s Coronation rush its evil tasks and tortures with time being all but secondary in order to achieve the ultimate goal of blasphemous pain that is to be disposed upon the weak who finds themselves unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire of this band’s raw unholy power with the rest of us all but basking in its glory as we venture further into the screaming void.

With even an ambient finale that does all but expunge any hope that may remain in the heart after experiencing this effort, Hell’s Coronation achieves every goal it could ever hope to accomplish in just three tracks where we can really see this unrelenting Polish duo channel only the darkest incantations to bring forth a terrifying entity that’s sure to become more monstrous with every subsequent effort. It is but a brief offering, but it is every moment of “Silver Knife Mysticism” that we can see this band rise even higher into the ranks of underground such that their blasphemy can reach even greater heights, and I can only hope that it won’t be long before we can experience another session of invocations.
