Invultation – Unconquerable Death

The uttermost reaches of what can be considered extreme is constantly being tested. Whether it’s be playfully poked at by a new band or rigorously besieged by seasoned veterans who seek to expand the borders of what’s popular, there will likely never be an end to the quest for bloodied expansion. The very depths of the underground will always be teeming with bands that dare to attempt such glory, but it’s only a select few that will ever really be able to persevere far enough to discover something worthwhile. With its latest work, Invultation poises itself to be a real contender for unstoppable expansion with no less than a voracious lust for results.

I will never quite understand just how such a depraved style that has nothing but contempt for the very concept of life itself can manage to be so intoxicating, yet it’s never long before I find myself in the very midst of another band that not only dares to bring such a thing in our world but one that manages to bring it forth in all but truly exquisite quality. In every form, Invultation’s performance throughout the very entirety of “Unconquerable Death” is as close to the pinnacle of such that I’ve seen for some time with the album’s title all but extremely fitting and the spirit of the record truly caustic. There isn’t a single moment to be found throughout this ten-track barrage of ultimate darkness that does not invoke the corpses to rise nor the very darkness of Nothing to speak as it’s from start to finish that Invultation manages to craft a singular vision of terror that is not to be underestimated for should it catch you with your guard down then you will undoubtedly find yourself swept off your feet to a violent fate to be found beyond the very veil that this effort seeks to pierce with its barbaric and undeniably fascinating approach the very sort of performance that makes the underground such a dangerous but alluring place to begin with.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that we’ve gotten more than a few albums that have dared to attempt to achieve what has been here within the confines of “Unconquerable Death”, but I don’t think it would be accurate to say that many have succeeded like how Invultation has here. A truly crazed release that will eventually give into its hunger so much that it resorts to self-consumption in a final act of defiant famine, it’s every fiber of my being that tells me that this is just the beginning of what Invultation is capable of which, in every way, is a terrifying thought that’s just as awe-inspiring.
